(A pantoum)
Though wavelets tumble over coast
Shore cannot slake its thirst
Sand bakes in furnace of the sun
Nature exacts its toll.
Shore cannot slake its thirst
Heat is unrelenting in its hold
Nature exacts its toll
Vacationers seek shelter in the shade.
Heat is unrelenting in its hold
Wilting in the sultry atmosphere
Vacationers seek shelter in the shade
Scorched by season’s piercing ray.
Wilting in the sultry atmosphere
Grass melts into yellow haze
Scorched by season’s piercing ray
Earth cannot find relief.
Grass melts into yellow haze
Sand bakes in furnace of the sun
Earth cannot find relief
Though wavelets tumble over coast.
